Jan Damm is a multi-talented performer and circus artist based in San Francisco. Growing up in Central Maine, Jan began his professional career at age twelve, performing juggling for children's parties and events. In 2003 he discovered the fine art of clowning with Avner Eisenerg and Julie Goell at Maine's world-renowned Celebration Barn Theater workshop. He directed Bard College's 'Surrealist Training Circus' while obtaining an economics degree from the same institution. Upon graduating, Jan headed for Western Canada, where he and his Vaudevillian co-conspirator, Jasper Patterson, spent a summer street performing. Their oddly titled show, 'The Institute for Robotic Psychology' was enthusiastically received by audiences from Vancouver to Winnipeg. One juggling store job and one trapeze duo later, Jan relocated to the Bay Area, where he took up with the fine people of the San Francisco Circus Center. Here he has had the invaluable opportunity to study acrobatics with Master Lu Yi and clowning with Cirque du Soleil alums Jeff Raz and John Gilkey. Jan currently performs Rola Bola, Clown, and Juggling acts locally and internationally. Recently he has worked with TrapezeWorld, LA Circus, The Sippy Cups, The New Pickle Circus, and Circus Bella. In the summer of 2009 he will appear in 'Cirque Magnifique' at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
